1 Mar 2021 – anomalies, inversions and ship trails

The low stratus and haar feeding in the easterly flow from the North Sea into eastern England has certainly produced some low temperatures and negative anomalies today. It’s mildest again across the north and west particularly son on the highest ground! I just noticed that I missed out two positive anomalies from stations on the North Yorkshire moors, that’s probably because they may have just been peeking out the top of the inversion and temperatures were that much higher. The EODIS visible satellite image picks that out quite well, as it does the ship trails in the North Sea.
