Estimated accumulations from weather radar

Now that the Stornoway radar is operational once again it makes a bit more sense to look at the wetter days such as many places in the west had yesterday with storm Klaus. I am surprised that my estimated extremes totals of over 70 mm in a little more than 24 hours across western areas didn’t attract a yellow warning but I’m sure it was all down to impacts though. A combined heavy rain and strong wind warning would of course bolstered the argument for naming the storm Evert which for some reason the Met Office adamantly didn’t want to do.
