16 April 2020 – thundery showers

In this estimate of rainfall accumulations from weather radar, most of yesterday’s rainfall across the southeast at lunchtime, looks likely to have been falling from medium level unstable cloud and barely reached the ground. The thunderstorm on the other hand which formed over the Cherbourg peninsula at 15 UTC and moved N’NE, did just about manage to cross the Channel and reach the Isle of Wight and Hampshire during the evening, despite SST of 10 or 11°C.
