Despite what other global temperature series are saying about 2020 my own DIY global temperature series makes it only the fifth warmest behind 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. It’s very tight at the top of the table and only 0.14°C degrees separate the top five warmest years globally. I calculate my global means by adding up all the reanalysis .995 sigma air temperature applying a weighting to compensate for the area that each grid cells (2.5° x 2.5°) covers based on its latitude, then I divide by the total number of grid points to find the global mean, it’s as simple as that. The anomalies I generate are based on the 1981-2010 LTA. This is the only global temperature series where you will ever see a daily temperature for the whole globe.
