21 Feb 2021 – foehn wind off the Pyrenees

Courtesy of NASA Worldview

The cloud being generated by the strong SSE’ly upper winds across the Pyrenees seems to be streaming north across the UK today, and at the same time, the foehn wind blowing down from the mountains has kept temperatures at Pointe De Socoa from falling much below 17°C during the last 36 hours or more. I’ve tried to find the climate station there using Google Maps, but was unable to pinpoint the exact location of the Stevenson screen and met enclosure. It looks to be on a headland close to the lighthouse and on the western extremities of the town of Ciboure.
