The rain shadow north south was quite marked over the last 24 hours across Scotland. Some white pixels indicate totals over 225 mm on the highest hills around An Teallach that lie to the west of Loch Glascarnoch. I will say that my estimate of 14.2 mm for here in Strathpeffer looks on the high side, so much so that I’ve finally installed my old 5″ rain gauge in the garden. All I need is a measure! But I have come up with a cunning plan to get around needing one of those if I can work out the maths.
