29 Apr 2021 – Another cold day across IONA

Another cold day in a moderate to fresh northeasterly lunchtime temperature anomalies range from 1°C to 7°C below the LTA. A shower of hail and sleet recently lowered temperatures in the Strath close to 4°C for a while, as it looks to have done in Aviemore. The CB’s are looking quite splendid as they roll down the coastal strip from Caithness both in the satellite imagery and out the window. The skyscape must look quite spectacular looking northwest from the Moray Firth if you’re in a boat this afternoon, where I assume, thanks to the cold sea temperatures convection is fairly limited in clear skies.
