30/31 Mar 2021 – Accumulated precipitation

Accumulated precipitation from weather radar

Another wet day across the northwest of Scotland yesterday with estimated totals well in excess of 80 mm over large areas. It looks like I may have overshot my estimates for 06-06 at Aultbea though, and the 31.7 mm here in Strathpeffer looks too high as well. The rain area has extended further southeast into the Grampians overnight as the cold front edges southward and it’s starting to dry up across the north of Caithness. Temperature in the Strath at 09 UTC are just 4°C, so I imagine the precipitation is now falling as snow to quite low levels on Ben Wyvis just to our north, and there must be quite a blizzard going on in these strong northeasterlies at a 1000 metres amsl.
