30°C in Strasbourg this afternoon

A sudden warm plume of air has wafted up from the sub-tropics across central Europe today. Temperatures at 14 UTC reached 30.3°C at Strasbourg this afternoon, in the broad warm sector thrown up by low Hubertus (I kid you not). I notice the UKMO have magically abandoned the first of the double warm fronts they have been persisting with from their 06 UTC analysis this morning, turning it into a kind of instant occlusion. Trough man is as it again to explain away the thundery showers that affected the southeast.
