31 Mar 2021 – 06 UTC analysis

I can see why the Great Oz has been having problems with his/her analysis across Scotland in the 06 UTC chart, the cold front is starting to contort as it advances south, and has even grown an occlusion by 06 UTC. After years of observing you instinctively know when a cold front has gone through – even in the rain the visibility is just that bit sharper here in the Strath this morning – the other big clue being that temperatures across northern Scotland are around 7°C colder than they were yesterday morning! What happens to the front further south and west where a shallow low has formed on it is anyone’s guess. March may have come in like a lamb this year, but its going out more like a lion with fresh to strong northeasterly winds.
