4 January 2020 – visible satellite

A great visible satellite image today. Snow over Norway and the Highlands, with showers streaming of the North Sea thanks to the instability from it’s relatively warm waters and the cold air. Upper cloud, probably from that old occlusion that never really cleared the southeast of England on Friday. Why don’t we see more satellite imagery in TV forecasts like this? It’s a complete mystery to me. What do we pay EUMETSAT all those millions for? Or maybe Meteogroup might have to pay for the privilege and don’t want to pick up the tab?
