6 Apr 2021 – Estimated snow depths

This is a chart of total snowfall during the last 30 hours or so from the precipitation reported in the five minute weather radar images. Here in the Strath this morning we have had another 5 cm of fresh overnight snow to add to yesterday’s 5 cm much of which had melted outside the shadows by mid afternoon yesterday. I notice that the AWS at Loch Glascarnoch is reporting 10 cm this morning that echoes my Aprils fool post – what a guess! Apologies for the colour scheme and the fact that I haven’t changed the titles they assume that 1 mm of rain is equal to 1 cm of snow and with the quality of the light and fluffy snow we have at the moment that ratio might not be high enough.
