7 March 2020 – maximum temperatures

It was a mild early March day everywhere eventually yesterday, with temperatures widely up to 12 or 13°C across the whole of IONA (well except the Faroes which I suppose must also be a part of IONA). The warmth took it’s time to permeate through to the northeast of Scotland though, but when it did during mid afternoon it pipped all the rest with both Kinloss and Lossiemouth recording 13.9°C. After what’s been a wet raw winter it’s very noticeable when you step outside on a day like yesterday, it almost feels sub-tropical, and a lot warmer than it does indoors.
