8-9 May 2021 – Rainfall

Estimated accumulations from weather radar

The yellow warning of heavy rain across south Wales was well forecast by the NWP of the UKMO. A few clusters of orange pixels across the high ground there indicating extreme totals of 100-125 mm in the last 24 hours or so. The western slopes of the Pennines also took a soaking and there was a bit of a rain shadow across Somerset. Estimates from weather radar when compared to the totals from the AWS look fairly reasonable across the board. The usual spoking from Chenies as the leaves return to trees.

  1. If I was still living in the Rhondda I would no doubt have recorded 100 mm or so 🙂
