A cold fresh Christmas eve then milder

It looks like there might be a dusting of snow on the higher ground in Scotland early on Christmas Eve, but the day looks to be a cold and windy affair and bright away from the wintry showers that will pepper the east coast. Christmas day will see winds back into the west and then southwest as it quickly turns cloudy and milder from the north with rain into western Scotland before dawn. The low responsible for this milder interlude on Christmas day is forecast to transfer southeast down across the country during Monday, with a more significant northerly following on behind according to the latest run of the ECMWF model.
