Looking at the latest sunshine totals for May and it’s been a pretty dull month across large parts of IONA, especially in the south and the east. Eire has had a reasonably sunny month, and the Isle of Man is the sunniest place up until yesterday (forget the bug in the title) with almost 180 hours of sunshine closely followed by sunny Jersey. Only just over 12% of the maximum possible 415 hours at Altnaharra in the north. Exeter AWS is now back online, and so is their sunshine sensor, so ignore that 13 hours. The SYNOP network is painfully stretched at the best of times, even more so when it comes to sunshine. Why there’s no AWS at Fort William is criminal, a sunshine sensor might help at Tulloch Bridge but that’s probably not possible because of being in a steep sided Glen.
