A perfect rain shadow

A perfect rain shadow extending across Easter Ross and Sutherland is giving us complete protection from the rain this morning (4 July 2019). The rain shadow seems to have been sheltering our part of the world since yesterday evening by the looks of the rainfall accumulations. Early morning visible satellite images show upper cloud streamers extending southeastward from the northwest Highlands. I don’t know for how long our dry slot will persist or the exact reason for these orographic rain bands. This kind of setup of course must be quite common in this part of the world so bear with me as I get used to it.
