Americans and Europeans at loggerheads about what happens next

There’s little agreement between the GFS and ECMWF numerical models about what comes next after a weekend that’s dominated by low Alex. The forecast for the UK seems to have it wallowing in the aftermath of the filling remains of Alex for most of next week according to the ECMWF, whilst the GFS seems to get right back into the swing of things with renewed mobility and a deep low brushing across the northwest of Scotland by Thursday lunchtime. I should stop believing that any NWP forecast beyond T+120 from whatever model is anything other that pure science fiction.
