Arctic maritime gives it another go

1100 UTC plotted chart

The Arctic maritime air mass to the north of Scotland is taking another swipe across the north of Scotland this lunchtime. The temperature at Wick fell almost 5°C late this morning as it passed through on it’s way south. It’s not often that you see polar maritime, or returning polar maritime for that matter, getting replaced by Arctic maritime air, but that’s twice it’s happened in the last few days now. There has been a couple of hours of moderate rain in Ross-shire, and I reckon the higher hills and mountains will seen another covering of snow before it clears through.
