I don’t know which particular model Meteogroup and the BBC are using at the moment, but it’s gone a little awry as far as maximum temperatures are concerned for London. This is the second day in a row that they got it wrong. Yesterday they promised 13°C for London when the highest maximum reached only 10.0°C, and today it looks like they’ve over estimated it again forecasting 13°C again for the capital at 15 UTC. It’s doesn’t just end up being wrong but it also looks wrong when you look at the chart, but both Louise Lear and Sarah Keith Lucas seem to have accepted it without question. I think it goes to show how much automation goes on to produce the forecast and just how important it is to take a dry run though the sequence of charts they display and edit spurious values like this.
