Clearing up a couple of my misconceptions about December’s weather
I was very surprised to find that the rainfall anomalies for western Scotland weren’t as high in December as I had anticipated, or how northeast Scotland had been so much milder than I had imagined, especially as I now live here! Thanks for clearing up my own misconceptions about December’s weather go to the climate statistics produced by the Met Office and just underline how important accurate data is.
It’s very hard to be a standout December these days temperature wise, especially when in the last decade we had a record cold anomaly of -4.8°C in 2010 and a record high anomaly of +4.0°C in 2015. In any other decade the +1.2°C above the 1981-2010 LTA this December may have had some significance but not now.
