Cold, but not quite cold enough

There maybe snow falling on the hills above 300 M amsl in Wales, and the higher parts of the Chilterns and Cotswolds, but the story so far today is cold, but not quite cold enough. In fact cold, but not quite cold enough just about sums up the winter up so far, as it did last year, and something that we will have to get used to in the winters to come. Thursday was just the same here in Strathpeffer, it snowed all afternoon and into the night and although it was cold (1.5°C), it just wasn’t quite cold enough for it to settle – truly dismal. Hopefully if we do see an anticyclonic easterly setting in during this coming week we might see deeper cold air feeding in across the country.
