I meant to drive up to the AWS at the top end of the loch this afternoon, but because we were low on petrol I bottled out and turned back after a quick saunter across the dam wall. A thin skin of ice on the loch on what’s been another cold day in the Highlands, I don’t think that it made it above freezing today. I should have been more patient because a rosy glow developed to the top of the thin SC layer (base 3,700 feet according to the LCBR at the AWS) at sunset.
