The Met Office have been quite good with their snow warnings over Scotland in recent weeks but not so today. If anything the snow showers across the northwest of Scotland have become more frequent and heavy today and cluing together as you can see in the weather radar image. Here in Strathpeffer it’s been snowing steadily since 10 UTC and although the roads remain black at 70 M amsl it might be different above 200 metres.

The only snow warning in force today is one issued for the south Midlands, when the Chief waxes lyrical about what 2 to 5 centimeters of snow can do. Bugger the impact matrix, drivers on roads affected by snow up here are no different from drivers in the home counties, drivers may be more use to snow up here, but what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. I jest with my version of the impact matrix, but it’s basically correct, people’s lives are less important the further north that you go.
