DIY global temperatures continue to fall in March

Mean temperatures during March 2021 in my DIY global temperature series were the joint 15th warmest in my short series which starts in 1948. More importantly the 365 day moving average of global temperatures has continued to fall despite reports that the La Niña event in the central Pacific has come to an end. Having said that the continued decline in 365 day average temperatures we have seen since March 2020 are going to be hard to maintain through the rest of 2021, and it may be that the moving average may just just bottom out or start to pick up again as it did at the end of 2018 – who knows? But at the moment indications from the rather coarse gridded global data that I use to produce my estimates of what constitute a ‘global temperature’ are now back to levels that we last saw in early 2015.
