Far too optimistic

Another day and another optimistic forecast from the BBC that plays down the showers and just how cold it was in some parts of the country at lunchtime. Across IONA temperature anomalies at 12 UTC are three or four degrees below the LTA in places for this time, and nowhere near were “they should be for this time of year”, and especially cold across the northeast of Scotland behind the cold front. I think part of the problem is weathercasters look at the labelled temperatures and gauge their comments on these daytime maximum temperatures and not on real time observational values.
