Gusts to 69 mph and no warning

The Chief must like flying by the seat of his pants, because gusts of 50 to 60 mph have been reported at a number of stations across the UK this morning. Up to 12 UTC there have been gusts to 61 mph at Stornoway and one to 69 mph at Capel Curig aka ‘the Welsh wind tunnel’. They all fit the criteria used in the wording of the yellow warning for strong wind that’s been issued for tomorrow, the only trouble is this is today.
