Heavy rain for ‘mountains’

Rather a late issued warning for heavy rain that runs from 02 UTC on Monday to 08 UTC on Tuesday for parts of northern Ireland and central Scotland. I fancy that there must have been a bit of hemming and hawing about this one for some reason. The headline includes the phrase some flooding, but the text only mentions rainfall totals for hills and mountains, it even mentions a specific total for “a few mountains” in Argyl, but nowhere does it mention expected accumulations for the lower ground of the central belt – very odd. It’s also, like in recent warnings of heavy rain for Scotland, never really extended far enough north to cover Skye and wester Ross, and this one is no different. It will be interesting to see radar estimates on Tuesday morning to see how much rain fell in thirty hours.
