High Nikolas hangs on in north

The high pressure that BIM have named Nikolas is set to stick around this week and after it’s done a quick pirouette further south, its forecast by the midnight run of the hires ECMWF model to return just to the north or northeast of Scotland by the end of the week. After the initial cold northerlies, things look like they will warm up as winds veer into the east or southeast and draw up warmer, but more unsettled weather from Biscay. For once though it looks a mainly dry week further north thanks to Nikolas. I suppose it’s rather fitting that Saint Nicholas has finally arrived even if it took him till Easter to do it.
