If we don’t name it the French will

The gale force winds that looked likely to clip the southeast of England on Friday in yesterday’s model runs have now been forecast to occur much further south across various parts of France depending on which of the NWP models that you believe. I was led to understand that strong winds weren’t the only prerequisite for the naming of a storm and other factors such as heavy rain and snow might also be a factor. I reckon that this low over a couple of days has all the potential to be named storm Bella, it has all the ingredients, strong winds, heavy rain and snow, but it maybe left to the French to name it, possibly calling it storm Claude for all I know, just for its strong winds.
