Intense anticyclone 1055 hPa over Mordovia

An intense anticyclone close to the city of Saransk the capital of Mordovia with a population close to 300,000 in central Russia with a central pressure of just over 1055 hPa (31.15″ of mercury) this morning at 06 UTC. Easterly winds set in late on Tuesday and ushered in much colder air from Siberia. I’ve circled Moscow 630 km to the W’NW of Saransk to give you an idea of just how far east Saransk is on the map.
