It’s just not “feeling cool” in places, it’s just plain cold

I have just been listening to Chris Fawkes the weathercaster on duty this lunchtime in the BBC News. He’s always loathed to say much about Scotland in his forecasts, and when he does he always seems to put his foot in it. I don’t know why weathercasters seem so reluctant to use “cold” in their forecasts preferring to use the word “cool” these days, even when temperatures are clearly between three and five degrees below the LTA across much of Scotland.
