Another great visible satellite image this morning showing a ‘shield’ of medium and high cloud being thrust northeast by the advancing south westerly jetstream ahead of another intensifying low in mid Atlantic. I don’t know the exact technical term for this ‘shield’ of cloud is, other than calling it jetstream cirrus, but do I know its a harbinger of rapid development when it’s seen in satellite imagery. I quite like shield of cloud that I’ve coined, who knows perhaps it’ll catch on. This is the barograph from the weather buoy further east of low Elisa showing quite a steep fall in pressure since 05 UTC.
