It is nice to see at least one of the national Met Services in this part of the world being grown up about weather warnings these days as Met Eireann now display warnings for both the republic and the north of Ireland, which makes sense as weather isn’t a great respecter of national boundaries. In the UKMO warning I’m surprised that anticipated gusts of 70 mph haven’t triggered naming low Jantra storm Ellen. The gradient at 06 UTC on Thursday in the midnight run of the hires ECMWF model does look pretty tight close to Belmullet in northwest Ireland.
