June 2020 – circulation

There is an in interesting belt of low pressure that stretches from southern Greenland southeast for around 8,000 kilometres to the Gulf of Oman this June. The part of the belt that lies over the Atlantic and Europe is caused by lower than average pressure across southern Greenland and the UK and Romania (-4 hPa), on either side of this belt are large positive anomalies across the mid North Atlantic (+7 hPa) to the south, and to the north over mid Greenland (+6 hPa) and Finland (+7 hPa).
