Late frost as cloud clears

A textbook example of a late frost in the North of Scotland this morning with Loch Glascarnoch dropping to -6.5°C at 07 UTC as the sheet of SC cloud finally broke late in the night across the north. Even here in Strathpeffer it was strange to see temperatures fall from around 2.6°C at 8am down to close to zero an hour later with the sun blazing down from a deep blue sky. Strangely, Sarah Keith Lucas failed to mention any of this in her breakfast time forecasts on the BBC News channel.
