Leaving on a jet stream
Apologies to John Denver, but I just couldn’t help myself with another corny headline. Yes, another almost 200 knot jet stream across the eastern seaboard of America, and very similar to the another powerful jet we saw exactly one week ago that powered storm Ciara. The highest maximum wind I found from the 12 UTC radiosonde reports was again reported at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia with 198 knots from 255°, thats 228 mph. It’s no wonder Europe is so mild this winter with regimes like this that just go on and on repeating themselves and pumping warm air up from the Gulf of Mexico.
