The half term report for Antarctic sea ice shows that the estimated extent to be at 4.191 million square kilometres, that’s 94.7% of the 1988-2016 LTA, and well up on the figures for the same month and day in 2020. Since the disastrous year of 2017 sea ice extent in the Antarctic has made a slow but steady recovery year on year.
