The Met Office are certainly intent on covering all their bases with two separate (!) 24 hour yellow warnings for thunderstorms next Monday and Tuesday. I have no idea what merit they is in putting out blanket warnings like this for the whole of the UK for three days ahead is, when they freely admit that there is significant uncertainty about the location and timing of any thunderstorm. I would have thought waiting till Sunday evening to issue any warnings would have been more sensible. What use is it to anyone to know there could be a thunderstorm early next week anywhere in the UK? I am sure that issuing these warnings for such an area and so early has been at the behest of the press team in an effort to extract as much media attention out of the current heatwave as possible. I can just see the Daily Express headlines now.
