I think TV weather presenters must think very little of temperature anomaly charts because if they did they would use them more and let’s face it have you ever seen one used in anger on any of the TV weather forecasts? Perhaps they have to be given permission by the powers that be at the BBC or Meteogroup before they can use them, after all the concept must be tricky for Joe Public to understand. To me they will always the best way to describe temperature anywhere in the country. Only when they are finally accepted as part of a forecast presentation will we finally be able to look and compare temperatures sensibly across the country. The highest anomaly today in IONA today was the 8.8°C above the LTA for that day at Aboyne, and the lowest -2.0°C at Thorney Island.
