Milder air arrives on the mountains

Temperatures are around eleven degrees warmer this afternoon than they were yesterday on Aonach Mor close to Ben Nevis. I can imagine that the mountain streams and rivers running will be in torrent for the next few days after being locked in a deep freeze for the last six weeks, as milder air arrives even to ground above 4,000 feet this afternoon in the west of Scotland. It will also up the chances of avalanches no doubt as well, because a great deal of snow has fallen over higher ground to the east over the Grampians.
