Misleading towns and city temperatures on crowded charts

It is not so much that model temperatures today are way too high across Scotland that’s annoying me, it’s more the fact that they choose to display temperatures for only strategic ‘towns and cities’ that irritates me. Why don’t the BBC weathercasters simply display a separate chart for maximum temperatures and overlay the spot values on top of a colour filled contour map of temperature, at least then it might at least give the viewer the impression that it’s even colder in rural areas than this kind of chart suggests. Using a single chart to display cloud, precipitation, temperature, wind speed and direction, plus icons for warnings in my opinion makes the end product far too busy.
