Models in a quandary about Monday

I wonder if the new £1.2 billion supercomputer the Met Office are after the Government buying them will help them pick out the correct solution from this muddle of models for next Monday – but I doubt it. This is well within the five day range that they like to tell us today’s NWP models are so proficient at getting right these days, but as you can see each solution is widely and wildly different from the others, that it does make you wonder if this will always be the case. If the Met Office are too frit to name it storm Ellen, then Met Eireann might jump in and do it for them, because they must be fed up with getting left out of the naming storms game they like to play. At the moment though, at least using the UKMO T+120 forecast, it looks like a pretty run of the mill extratropical depression for February.
