Much colder air taking an age to arrive

The much heralded “much colder air” seems to have taken an age to appear across the UK this weekend. The anomalies across northeast parts of Scotland are very similar to the ones we’ve experienced for much of this week. The really cold air at the moment is confined to the Shetlands at present, where temperatures are just holding up above freezing and the dewpoints are around minus six or seven degrees. When it does arrive it will be quite a shock to those in Kent where 12 UTC anomalies are still well above average.
