Orographic upper cloud shadow

There looks to be a shadow being cast across western Scotland caused by what I guess can only be thick orographic upper and medium level cloud in the westerly flow. Elsewhere you can just about pick out early morning fog filling some valleys in central Wales and Devon.

The wall of cloud was still there a couple of hours later a little more enhanced. Low level orographic effect now evident across western parts.

It has been a dark morning in Strathpeffer but it’s just started to brighten up from the west.
