Overnight rainfall totals

Accumulated rainfall from weather radar estimates

There was a fairly large area of rainfall totals across western Scotland that exceeded 40 mm yesterday, and across higher ground estimated totals were well in excess of 80 mm. I thought that I would just download the 09-09 rainfall totals from SEPA to see if they had picked up any of these high totals, but unfortunately their network of gauges doesn’t cover much of the area that these high totals occurred, in fact there is rather a huge whole in it. Having said that the 39.4 mm total (09-09) from the SEPA gauge at Allt Dearg House on Skye did tally very closely to the weather radar estimate of 39.8 mm at Lusa (220000 – 230755 UTC).
