Poorest summer in UK since 2012

The summer index for the whole of the UK for 2020 was a rather surprising -16, which made it the lowest summer index since 2012, regionally the highest summer index that I found was in the southeast of England (+12) but equally surprising was that the second highest index was in the north of Scotland (+11), with the lowest index and poorest summer in 2020 across the north of England. There has been so much hype concerning the heatwave conditions in August that I think people’s expectations for the summer were a lot higher than it turned out in reality.
