Radar problems

The Stornoway radar hasn’t been working for the past week or more. In Strathpeffer we are on the edge of the coverage from the radar at Druim a Starraig and the radar on the hill of Dudwick. During this morning the snow showers which have been coming in from the Moray Firth in the light to moderate northeasterly have been abruptly stopping short of Strathpeffer even though they’ve now put a new dusting of snow in the village. The showers on the radar seem to reach as far west as Inverness and then disappear as if they’ve just dropped off the edge of the world, which in some respects is true. So please note, anyone out there, that at the moment the Aberdeen radar looks to be only reaching half the range which it once did, which combined with the missing Stornoway radar is very misleading and couldn’t have happened at a worse time with snow forecast this week.
