Rapid rate of knots

The heavy rain on the occluding front across Northern Scotland looks pretty spectacular on individual frames of the weather radar, but thankfully its moving at a rapid rate of knots. The rain shadow effect has also provided a good bit of shelter too, extending from the south side of the Great Glen eastward along the Moray coast out towards Buckie. Winds have been lively on the mountains with mean speeds at hurricane force and a gust to one hundred mph on Cairngorm at 04 UTC.
