Signs of a northerly after brief anticyclonic interlude

It is still rather a long way off but there are signs that as the anticyclonic spell that gets underway during the coming week breaks down from the south, high pressure will migrate northwest and establish itself across Iceland allowing a plunge of colder air (what else?) to move south in ten days time or so. I know forecast as far ahead as ten days are all very speculative, but with the recent Arctic wave across North America something like this was overdue. It’s only because NWP is as accurate as it is these days that I can talk with any degree of confidence about the demise of something that’s not even happened yet!
